Betcha didn’t know today was a holiday, didja?!?!  At this point in America, we’re still digesting from Thanksgiving and frantically shopping for Christmas, but we aren’t taking advantage of another highly celebrated (and significant) holiday.  Today, December 8th, marks the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, one of the most important events in Catholicism.  Although often mistaken for the day of Jesus’ conception, this day marks the arrival of Mary in the womb, created by God without original sin, and can also be observed as the Feast of the Conception of Saint Anne, Mary’s mother.

As a national holiday in Italy, most offices will be closed today, but stores will stay open to aid the festive in their Christmas shopping.  Special masses, parades, and feasts are held to honor the purity and humility of the Blessed Mother.  So from all of us here at Escape Artists, Happy Holidays, and don’t forget to call your mother!
